LAW OFFICES OF ELIZABETH JURKACEK, P.
C.
This
professional corporation was formed in July 1999. Elizabeth Jurkacek has
been practicing law for nine years. Her practice is divided into
transactional matters and litigation disputes. Transactional areas
include: residential and commercial real estate transactions; leases;
condominium and cooperative development and operation; corporate,
partnership, and LLC start-ups; business agreements and internal corporate
management matters; and, wills, trusts and other estate planning
documents. The litigation areas also are diverse subject matters ranging
from corporate litigation, real estate disputes, probate, divorce and
family law matters including adoption to a variety of other general
litigation. This is significant because experience indicates that
attorneys who practice in both areas understand that good legal
draftsmanship prevents litigation. Good litigators understand that
resolving disputes requires clients to have well written agreements which
withstand legal challenges to their
enforceability.
As an associate Elizabeth
managed over seven appellate cases which covered corporate officers’
fiduciary duties; contract disputes; child custody matters; condominium
law; local government and administrative disputes; contractor lien
enforcement; and several state law procedural issues. Several cases were
appealed to the Illinois Supreme Court. Most of these cases were litigated
against Chicago’s largest law firms with successful outcomes in most
cases.
Elizabeth went to IIT/Kent
College of Law in Chicago for her law degree. She graduated in 1991 having
been on the honor roll three out of six semesters. Elizabeth worked as a
law clerk during law school and later became an associate at Veverka,
Rosen and Haugh. Prior to practicing law, Elizabeth was a media planner at
several Chicago advertising agencies, the last one being Foote Cone and
Belding, one of the largest ad agencies in the world. The marketing and
business skills acquired during her six years in advertising have been
invaluable during her legal practice.
Elizabeth
has a B.S. in corporate finance and a B.A. in international affairs from
American University in Washington, D.C. In college, Elizabeth had paid
internships with several government agencies and private trade
organizations including the U.S. China Trade
Council.
Elizabeth lives in Western
Springs, Illinois where she grew up. She is an advisor for a local
Explorer Post which provides the youth members with scuba instruction and
other high adventure activities. Her other community involvement is with
the Underwater Archaeological Society of Chicago. The UASC is dedicated to
preserving Chicago’s shipwrecks and the history these shipwrecks provide
concerning the Midwest and Chicago’s early development and
growth.
The law firm was
created to provide high quality legal services to a diverse range of
clients concentrating in Cook, DuPage, Lake, Will and Kane counties. These
clients seek a high level of legal skill, personal attention to their
legal issues and legal advice that is up to date. Elizabeth regularly
attends seminars and legal classes in her practice areas to remain current
in changes to the law. Firm clients are located throughout Illinois and
world from London to Bangkok. Client satisfaction is the focus of the
practice. Elizabeth is committed to keeping her clients well-informed and
active participants in the management of their matters.
